I am not much of a "fix-it" person, but occasionally there is a job that needs to be done, and I would prefer to do it myself, if at all possible. My eight year old son loves riding his bike. It doesn't matter what the weather is, even in the middle of winter, he wants to ride every chance he gets. His other love is taking things apart and rebuilding them. Maybe he is an engineer in the making! When you put these two things together, it is not uncommon to see his bike flipped upside down in the garage with pieces strewn across the floor. I have learned my lesson about leaving things out in the rain and not taking care of them. Last winter I left our patio table and chairs outside all through the winter. The freezing rain and snow left its mark by rusting many areas on the table. I guess you get what you pay for! I tried to take the table apart and clean it up, but that was easier said than done. In trying to take the table apart, I had such difficulty trying to remove the rusted bolts. I ended up rounding and stripping the bolts, not to mention getting my knucles all scratched up. It was quite frustrating, to say the least!

I have a neighbor that had a Toyota pickup that he used to commute. He lost the plastic tensioning roller on the timing belt. He spent a week end trying to remove the pulley bracket. It was hard to access and he rounded off the bolt, and broke off three easy outs that were all off center and one was just deep enough to touch the threads. He also tried other rounded bolt removers. He gave up and replaced the truck and tried to sell the truck. All of his prospects balked because of the stripped bolt.
He was showing the truck and reduced the price to seventy five dollars. A young man and his friend decided to buy the truck, gave him his seventy five bucks and my neighbor decided to leave to go shopping, I walked over and they asked me if I had any knowledge as to the condition of the truck.
I told them it was running fine until he stripped the head off the bolt. I told them I had just received your sockets and said I would like to try to remove the rounded bolt. I got your sockets, a small extension and two universal joints.
The bolt had chisel marks and metal that was sharp and protruding out the side. Your socket went around all the damaged metal and the stubs from the three broken easy outs. I was absolutelly amazed when this bolt came out.
There was damage to two threads from one of the easy outs. Total time to remove the bolt was about ten seconds. The young man took the bracket and shut the hood. He came back with a car dolly and left with the truck. Two days later this young man came by driving the truck. He was so happy he gave me a set of Sears Craftsman set of universal joints because I had to use adaptors in order to use the half inch and three eights universals to get to the stripped bolt.
Best of all my neighbor, is still grumbling he should have gotten more cash for the truck.
