Mechanics often devise ways to remove stuck fasteners using common workbench tools. These methods are effective in taking out stuck fasteners or bolts. Here are some of the common ways of removing fasteners and bolts.

Using Nut Splitter
It is a small tool that you put around a stuck nut. Then a blade cuts the nut in the side freeing the bolt. The disadvantage of this tool is that the nuts become useless and can only be used in bolts with a nut. You cannot use this on a stripped bolt that is fastened directly to a metal block.

Using a Torch
This techniques involves using a torch to heat up the bolt and loosen it. This causes the bolt to expand which loosens the threads. You should use a torch with a controlled flame like an acetylene torch. Of  course, you don't want to burn the surrounding area. The disadvantage of this method is that it can trigger gas fume explosions especially if you use this in engines.
